Beach Head

Style: Triple IPA
IBU: 80
ABV: 10.25%

Description: Beach head, also know lovingly as "Playa Cabeza" by our bartenders, is Black Sands' first ever triple IPA recipe. Its a punched up, flavorful IPA that became a quick favorite of ours. Hop character drives the overall experience here, with three different bouts of dry hoping. Chosen for their fruit like characteristics, citra, galaxy, and equinox puncture the pallette. So what does it taste like? Imagine that your on a soft white sand beach, stranded with nothing but the shirt on your back, when suddenly, you see a ship. You make a fire, trying to signal the passing vessel. As your confidence wains and the ship starts to fade into the distance, the ship explodes, bursting into a cloud of smoke and splinters. As the days pass, its cargo starts to wash ashore, boxes, upon boxes of tropical fruits.

Midnight Rye

Style: Black Rye IPA
IBU: 60
ABV: 7.8%

Description: Dark malts and Rye combined with citrus hops deliver a unique profile of char, roast, and spice with a pronounced bitterness. This recipe is our base Black IPA (Son of Man) but we added chocolate rye, pale rye, and flaked rye to the mash for a zing to the dark malts. Hops include: Galena, Magnum, Citra and Cascade. If you like Son of Man, this is like drinking one on the back of a dark horse riding down the back side of a mountain, when suddenly, the shoulders of your trail close in on you. The pass is so tight that the weeping willow branches whip your skin as your horse stampedes through the darkness.

Bittersweet Motel

Style: India Pale Lager
IBU: 71
ABV: 6.8%

We hadn't Either until local homebrewer Alex Magill came into our hombrew store. This recipe is something he perfected and we loved it, so in true hombrew spirit we invited him to brew it with us! Cold conditioned, accessible lager characters, but it's built it up hard with a backbone of Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo. Citrus, and pine notes remind you of a great west coast IPA, but mix in your mouth with that familiar lager profile. Cheers to Alex!

Least Resistance

Style: Session Black IPA
IBU: 45
ABV: 4.8%

Description: Its like this... You know the Son of Man Black IPA we make? Well the Least resistance is like the Son of Man had a baby. This baby is still full flavored, has a great body, and just slightly lower in ABV. The lower ABV helps make this our "wiggle" beer. Named after the path of least resistance that the underground river takes under our building. Empire Saison
